If you missed last year’s MWSA Conference in Dayton, Ohio, you might want to start planning now to attend the 2014 conference in Phoenix, Arizona!
“The MWSA Conference was all that I could have hoped for when I first created this society,” said Founder Bill McDonald. “Lots of workshops for writers to increase and improve their skills, but more importantly, lots of real fellowship, laughs, good times, and networking. I can only image how much better these events will be over the years as people gain friendships, and new people come to mix into the group.”
Over the three days we spent together in Dayton, we attended workshops, wrote assignments, discussed projects, heard from those who have successfully navigated the industry, enjoyed meals together, gathered in the hallways, spent our Buckaroo Bucks at the auction, and celebrated the new crop of MWSA finalists and medal winners. We also had the opportunity to tour the Wright State University Library Archives and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

MWSA Book Drive
Last year MWSA collected more than 500 books for the Dayton VA, all of them donated by MWSA members. This year, the books will go to the VA in Phoenix. For every book that arrives on time, you will earn Buckaroo Bucks to be used at the Buckaroo Auction: 1,000 for each new book written by you and 500 for each new book you donate that is written by another author.
Members who wish to participate can do so by shipping the books to the hotel and agreeing to mail them the week of September 1st(no exceptions). Books must arrive no later than September 19th, so check with your post office as to best method of mailing to meet the deadline. To participate, email LeansToFar@aol.com prior to August 29, with the number of books and the titles, so we can verify with what the hotel receives.
