MWSA Review

David Michaelson has spun a science fiction treat in his new book Harvesters.  The Pharoans, a human-like species who are thousands of years ahead of us in space travel and technology have recently developed a technology that has brought the furthest reaches of the galaxy within easy reach.

Journeys that used to take a century can now be done in weeks.  Ever in need of natural resources and especially heavy metals, a new Revenant-9 spaceship is sent off to the far reaches of the galaxy to find and bring home as much of these heavy metals that they can find.  One small planet on their itinerary is a world that the Pharoans haven’t visited in nearly three thousand years – Earth.

Michaelson weaves drama and adventure together to an interesting conclusion when the Pharoans finally reach Earth orbit.  Can Earth survive another visit from the Pharoans.  I enjoyed this book and feel that all lovers of good science fiction will enjoy it, too!

Author's Summary

Earth is under siege again. Heavy metals used in intra-galactic propulsion systems are in high demand. The second in command of the Pharo-based starship, REVENANT-9, is reluctant to make the trip to another solar system that has been scoured and mined in the far distant past. But he must follow his captain's orders even though he believes the planet known as Earth may be too dangerous to visit.

The inhabitants of Earth have steadily advanced since the early days of forced labor at the hands of Pharoan ship commanders masquerading as Gods. Vice Commander Tium has no desire to confront the sentient bipeds that have emerged as the dominant species in their solar system. But orders are orders and he must obey them if he ever expects to be granted command a ship of his own.
