Call for Fiction Subnissions

LET'S GET SOME MWSA SUBMISSIONS IN TO JEFF!!!!!

Jeffery Hess, editor of the award winning anthology, Home of the Brave: Stories in Uniform, is working on a new anthology of short military fiction, to be called Home of the Brave: Somewhere in the Sand.

As the title suggests, these stories will focus directly or indirectly on our country's military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan. The interpretation of that theme is left to the authors. As in the previous edition, this anthology will include new writers alongside emerging and established ones and aims to include original stories that appeal to reader empathy and make it impossible to forget the characters.

The word count maximum for most stories will be 5,000. Deadline is Oct. 1, though you are encouraged to submit your best, appropriate work as early as possible. Send MS-Word doc with a brief bio to Jeffery Hess at jeff@press53.com and include the word “anthology” in the subject line.
