I am a New Yorker magazine junkie who as a longtime subscriber has the online access to its archive of all articles of this prestigious and venerable print and electronic icon.
To celebrate the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 I am posting my "conversations" with my great-great-great grandfather, Commodore 'Fighting Bob' Stockton, here when he was a young Master's Mate. The Commodore's narrative is posted in bold italic. ------------------------------
Recently I drove down to Cape Coral to pay my final respects to Ron Gagnon, my friend of more than 35 years. Ron was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, Vietnam Swift Boat veteran, stock car racer and an award–winning restorer of Vintage Chevrolet Corvettes. Ron was 63 years old.
