These unique adventures take place far from the traditional path.  The author’s narrative depicts immigrant roots, his career in the Marines, and prominent roles in civilian life.  His journey leads the reader to faraway places like Nigeria, China, and Russia, as well as Korea and Vietnam.  The author’s unusual duties expand as he proceeds through the enlisted ranks, becomes a Second Lieutenant and retires as a Major.  In civilian life, he secures leadership positions as an administrator of large law firms using transferable skills acquired in the Marines.  Hrebik befriends popular and powerful people along the way, such as Col. Oliver North during the Iran-Contra affair.  I found Marine history in CORPS VET and appreciated the positive attributes of a Marine being displayed from beginning to end.  In his fifties, Hrebik runs marathons and climbs 20,000 foot mountains!  As he reaches the highest summit on earth, any reader who honors drive and dedication will feel a final shot of inspiration.
