Comparing Blog Tools
I have several blogs, hosting on a variety of platforms. Each blogging system has strengths and weaknesses.
Blogger is owned by Google, so it does well in search results. It isn't as flexible as other platforms, but it is popular and easy to promote.
WordPress has the best overall blogging system, with many great custom plug-ins available. There are more themse for WordPress, and you can always install your own copy of WordPress on a server. Of course, it helps to be technical if you want to customize a WordPress site.
TypePad is good, but I'm not as familiar with it as Blogger and WordPress.
Drupal, Joomla, Moodle, and more are good systems with blogging modules. The MWSA website uses Drupal. This allows many people to have blogs on a single site.
Many years ago, I used LiveJournal. It is interesting how quickly popular services fade away.
