Author's Summary
MWSA Review
Steve Wilson has set his first novel, Red Sky at Morning, in Ukraine—a refreshingly different venue for the unfolding of this military/political mystery. Following the post cold war dissolution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the independent states in the commonwealth of former Soviet satellites are being manipulated by intrigue, misinformation, and terrorism.
Although deployed in Kyrgystan, U.S. Marine Lieutenant Michael Neill is needed by his country in another locale. Reassigned to Ukraine where he grew up as the son of American missionaries, Neill is given the responsibility of verifying the dismantling of nuclear warheads at the weapons facility near Odessa. In addition, Neill is tasked with discovering all he can about newly deployed Russian stealth technology and the inexplicable military personnel changes in Ukraine. Espionage, warfare, foiled plots, and even some romance are included in this fast paced military thriller.
With his first novel, Wilson has developed characters we can care about, military action we can follow, and a convincing plot with enough twists and turns to keep you reading late into the night. I highly recommend this book with its attention to detail, memorable characters, high-speed action, and family-based values. Can’t wait for the next book in the Michael Neill series!
