Facebook Ads
I have been experimenting with Facebook ads and thought I would share the results.
I set my "goals" for the first test to raise the number of "likes" on facebook.com/WindshiftbyJoyceFaulkner where I am posting historical anecdotes behind the story of my book Windshift. When I began, I had 88. I spent $30 over the course of a week and went from 88 followers to over 600.
My second test was this week. Jack London did a lovely review of my book. So I posted a link to it where it lives on his blog. I spent $10 over a 3 day period. That particular post was shown to 1478 people...218 were organic (meaning that people who were already following me saw it, 1263 were viral...meaning that someone who followed me showed it to their followers...and 1271 were paid...meaing folks were shown the ad...
On top of that, whenever I post something to that Facebook Page, it is automatically tweeted...so there may have been some benefit from that as well...hard to say...
Now, the book isn't officially available yet..there's no ebooks or harccovers on amazon yet...so hard to evaluate effectiveness...
However, it was interesting to see that Jack's blog got a nice bump as well...no where near as big a bump as the posting did in terms of people seeing it...but the people seeing it who were interested enough to click on it and go to Jack's blog and read what he had written DID benefit Jack as a whole as well.
Obviously, there's lots of thought that we all need to put into how we can maximize the impact of facebook ads...but I do think it's helpful for us to start the conversation.
Anyone have any ideas on how we could use this tool as a group to help each other?
