Dwight Jon Zimmerman to be Guest Author at North Dakota 2012 Chautauqua

Devils Lake, North Dakota, native and award-winning author Dwight Jon Zimmerman has co-authored with bestselling author and television anchor Bill O’Reilly LINCOLN’S LAST DAYS The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever which debuted at number two on the Wall Street Journal’s bestseller list in Nonfiction and also number two in the New York Times bestseller list for Children’s Chapter Books.

 

LINCOLN’S LAST DAYS is the young adult adaptation of KILLING LINCOLN, Bill O’Reilly’s bestselling account of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. O’Reilly is a former high-school history teacher and the author of several number-one bestselling books. He is also the anchor of The O’Reilly Factor, the highest-rated cable news show in America.

 

Dwight will be the guest author of the North Dakota Chautauqua 2012 at his hometown of Devils Lake. He will deliver a lecture, open to the public, on Thursday September 13, 2012, in the Lake Region State College’s Chautauqua Gallery at 7:00 p.m. After the lecture Dwight will answer questions from the audience and sign copies of LINCOLN'S LAST DAYS and his other books, comic books, as well as pages of original art from his stories.

 

Dwight said, “It was a tremendous experience working with Bill O’Reilly on LINCOLN’S LAST DAYS. He told a great story in KILLING LINCOLN and I am happy to see LINCOLN’S LAST DAYS get such an enthusiastic reception. I am thrilled to be invited to return to my hometown and participate in the author lecture series at the North Dakota Chautauqua 2012. I look forward to the event and to meeting former classmates and old friends.”

 

Dwight began his career writing super hero comic books for Marvel Comics. He has written more than a dozen critically acclaimed, award-winning books on military history as well as hundreds of articles on the subject. He is the host of the monthly radio program “At Ease” nationally broadcast on the Veterans Radio Network. In 2010 Zimmerman received from the Military Writers Society of America the Founder’s Award for his book UNCOMMON VALOR The Medal of Honor and the Warriors Who Earned It in Afghanistan and Iraq, the organization’s highest honor. Dwight, a graduate of the North Dakota State School of Science, is the son of Darlene and the late Morris Zimmerman. He lives in Brooklyn, New York. He and his wife have a son and a daughter, both adults.
