The Civilian Experience at Gettysburg presentation and book signing

One hundred fifty years ago, the most well-documented land battle of the Civil War took place in rural Pennsylvania. But before Gettysburg was known as a battlefield, it was a town full of ordinary people. Come hear award-winning author Jocelyn Green share what life was like for the civilians who lived through the battle and the aftermath. Green, author of Widow of Gettysburg, will share several perspectives from Gettysburg residents, including Elizabeth Thorn, the pregnant grave digger; John Burns, the 1812 veteran who took up a gun and fought to protect his home, 9-year-old Sadie Bushman, the youngest nurse in the Civil War, and more.
