MWSA Review
As a reviewer, I regret that I did not have an opportunity to read Mr. Monteith’s preceding books in his Rogue series. So I had to learn of all the characters that centered on the actions of one Jake Slate. Along with Slate, we learn of Slate’s international accomplice in one each Frenchman by the name of Renard. As I continued further into Monteith’s development of a mystery web, I began to feel the excitement and mysteries so profound in the books written during the Cold War era. Monteith quickly develops a fast paced plot which contains many turns and twists.
The author brings forth a fast paced thriller where nothing is taken for granted. Nothing is predictable. Monteith’s knowledge of naval strategies and tactics are quite remarkable. Though he has the advantage of being an Annapolis graduate, and it shows in his writing of this book, he won’t overload the reader with too much military jargon. The author who served extensively on active duty with submarines has an extensive knowledge of the technological events which are currently practiced in naval doctrine.
In all, I found this work to be compelling and entertaining.

Author's Summary
Book 4 of the Rogue Submarine Series: A CREW OF MERCENARY SUBMARINE SAILORS AND AN EX-U.S. NAVAL OFFICER TAKE ON THE LARGEST MILITARY FORCE ON EARTH. North Korea has crossed the Demilitarized Zone; the United States is hit by electromagnetic pulse attacks; and the Middle East is unraveling. Has Armageddon begun, or is a mortal puppet master pulling the strings? Regardless of the answer, the U.S. military is too overwhelmed by global events to continue protecting Taiwan. Chinese troops have gained a foothold on Taiwanese soil, and the tiny island nation has been stripped of her allies. Faced with impending destruction, the Taiwanese will do anything to survive, even if it means crossing the line into nuclear warfare. Their plan is desperate, and quite possibly insane. There’s only one man crazy enough to carry it out – former naval officer-turned renegade, Jake Slate.
