Agent Jeanie Loiacono meets Johnnie Kitchen
I have an agent. Her name is Jeanie Loiacono. She is president of Loiacono Literary Agency. We met in person for four hours to discuss brainstorming strategies for my latest novel, Johnnie Come Lately. What a thrill to sit in a booth across from a person who loves your book as much as you do.
The moment was magical. A bit surreal. And oh so sweet.
She is the first agent I queried, four days after my beloved Bubba Dog died unexpectedly and hours before my dad passed away. With Dad on his deathbed, I felt time pressing in on me and I knew I must take the risk of sending out that first query. Four months later I found the agent who is a perfect fit to represent my novel...and me.
Thirty-five years as a professional writer all comes down to this: Through many joys, many victories, many rejections and times of great despair, somehow I kept pushing. Believing. Hoping I would find one other person in the universe who would believe in me as a writer.
This past week I found my fit.
So here's to Johnnie Kitchen and to Jeanie Loiacono. I'm so glad they've finally met.
