Introducing Shadows of Combat: Poetry about the Vietnam Era Audiobook

As a co-author of two books and blogging to all my fellow authors of the Military Writers of America, I think that all of you can relate to the joy and sense of accomplishment when one finishes writing a book.
My co-author Bob Toto and I just finished our last book in poetic form titled Shadows of Combat: Poetry about the Vietnam Era. As soon as the initial sense of accomplishment is over one goes on as all authors do and perform the hard tasks of being a writer. What are those hard tasks you ask? The answer is quite simple and is the curse of every writer IT IS PROMOTING ONE’S BOOK.
Now as usual we brought our book out in paperback and Kindle editions. We sought the usual book signings and promoted our work through internet sources etc. I have recently noticed that recently published books have also come out via Audiobook which seems to have proliferated on Amazon book pages. So I researched the possibility of having my book produced as an Audiobook.
Great idea but where to begin? I immediately went to www.gregbellmedia.com where I had known that the host of SirusXM Radio Classic Greg Bell does Audiobook productions. In researching my options I had to settle on what type of voice to choose. Also in my research I found out that production was not inexpensive. However in going down the string of auditions I realized the importance of choosing the right person to do the reading.
After doing the auditions I settled on an English reader who sounded like he would get the heart and soul of what our book was trying to covey. The production was done in several sessions where the producer and reader by the name of Andrew Randall would send his produced session to me via email. I would review the readings and either OK the readings or suggest corrections. This process took two weeks and in the end I had the same accomplished feeling just as I had when our book was finished.
I must admit that as I heard the readings of Andrew Randall I was quite impressed with his reading ability along with his emotional inflections which gave depth and meaning to our writing. In fact it has expanded our ability to reach a larger audience.
Thinking now that I have bought the productions rights for my Audiobook the rest would be easy. I got online and contacted audible.com where I had to convert my finished audiobook into ITune form which took another two weeks of work. This took approximately 14 days of work each and every evening to include the conversion of the Amazon book cover into the format dictated by audible.com. Finally it was ready for publication.
So for a little over $6.00 you can hear the fruits of our labor. Click onto the link below and give it a whirl. I’m sure my fellow writers would not regret it.
