Author's Summary
I am an author, television producer, and journalist. My latest book - "King of Hearts" - is my sixth book and fourth novel. My previous novels include "Stalking," "Doubles," and "Kidd." "Kidd"was bought by Walt Disney as a source for the film franchise, "National Treasure," and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets." My non-fiction books are "The High School Revolutionaries," and "To Be Young in Babylon." Neither of those sold to the movies.
Writing novels can be lonely, and I became a television producer to get out of the house. For ten years, I was an Executive Producer at CBS News Productions, where I supervised the production of more than 300 hours of programming for A&E, The History Channel, Discovery, Discovery Health, TLC, Showtime, MTV, and other cable channels.
As a journalist, I was a Contributing Editor to Parade Magazine. I have also written for "The New York Times," "The Village Voice," "Look," "Glamour," "Self," "Mademoiselle," "Redbook," "American Health," and the "Los Angeles Times Syndicate."

The Second Gulf War provides the backdrop for this complex tale of greed, arrogance, murder, loyalty, dishonor, love, regret, intrigue, and hatred. The author uses events that took place in Iraq before, during, and after the invasion to weave a murder mystery with many twists and facets: the famous Iraq deck of cards, with Saddam featured as the Ace of Spades; the worlds biggest bank robbery, well Saddam thought of it as a “withdrawal;” and the looting of Iraq’s museum.
A former New York City homicide detective, Ric Hill has returned from his tour of duty in the New York National Guard. Haunted by the violence and death he saw first hand, he is attempting to deal with his nightmares and his divorce. Hill is now a detective sergeant in Soundview, a small suburb of the big city where he grew up. The story begins with a murder of the wife of a fellow guardsman—a crime he is determined to solve.
As Ric begins is investigation it becomes apparent that this is no ordinary murder, not the work of a stalker, no this was a hit. The trail leads back to the war he had left behind in Iraq, members of the National Guard, the King of Hearts, members of an intelligence unit, and a Washington power broker.
