William E. Mayer Inspiration Words & Phrases for 2012

Not every MWSA member has a book every year. Some are working on their first book, others are journalists, poets, artists, and photographers who might not ever publish a book. So, we have awards programs for these writers and artists each year. The major one is in honor of one of our late members, William E. Mayer.

Leila Levinson put together a panel for the 2011 Conference that discussed how writing and other artistic endeavors help with PTSD. Mike Mullins sponsors and emcees the annual Open Mic at our conferences. Both of these endeavors provide members with encouragement and an audience for their work. I encourage everyone to participate in the WEM awards.
