Gone to Graveyards is an epic portrayal of a young man’s journey into adulthood during the Korean War era.  Faced with an unsatisfying job, a dysfunctional marriage, and a looming national draft, Collier Boyd Ramsey finally decides to join the Army in an attempt to take some control over his life. With the goals of becoming an officer and somehow avoid being sent into combat, Ramsey quickly discovers he has little control over what life and the military have planned for him.  Finally, after nearly a year of Army training schools, as an enlisted man, and various romances that seem to fall into his lap, his commission finally comes through.  Unfortunately, he soon gets hit with the dreaded orders to Korea, where he sees, firsthand, the horrors of war.

An interesting story about a young man’s many life experiences and romances.  I recommend this book to any adult who enjoys reading military fiction, or reading historical fiction that is set during the Korean War era.
