This is a believable story of six captives surviving decades in a cruel prison camp in communist Vietnam. We relive their brutal beatings and inhuman treatment, and then we are with them as their lives are thrown into an exciting and dangerous escape plan.  

The cover is striking with a scene of a prisoner holding his dog tags and a barbed wire with a little girl in faded background making you aware of family waiting for any word of their loved ones.

General Yo is a believable villain and our hero, prison guard Le, wonders if his dangerous plan is the right thing to do. I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to any reader of fiction that truly wants a military thriller. The story accurately depicts the altitude of the country during and after the Vietnam War.
