enna's story is about her desire to serve her country and discover herself in the process. She describes what it's like to be a young woman, wife, mother, and soldier full of life and patriotism. She finds herself both satisfied and, at the same time, unhappy with her plight in the Army as she tries to maintain her marriage, family life, while continuing to be a dedicated soldier. She longs to deploy overseas and is repeatedly denied the opportunity for a variety of reasons, one of which is that she is a woman in a noncombatant duty position and then, non-deployable because she is pregnant. Perseverance pays off and she finally gets her wish; she is sent overseas. The pride in her service, her struggle to prove herself equal to her male counterparts, and her dedication to self and family show us a remarkable, contemporary young woman. Her courageous story is inspirational and would be of particular interest to anyone currently in the military or who is thinking of joining the military service. The short 138 page book is told in the first person and is easy to read. The layout was uncomplicated using spaces between each paragraph which contributed to the simplicity of the book. It is unfortunate that the author did not include pictures. Seeing the players and the environment could have given this book an even more personal feel. Still the reader will be empathetic and feel a genuine connection to the author throughout the book.
