NAVY RULES--in more ways than one!

I am a product of the U.S. Navy. It all started in my sophomore year of high school when a classmate did a presentation on the service academies. It didn't hurt that I was dating a future West Point cadet, either. After visiting USMA I realized I wanted to served my country but not in the Army. I ordered and read the USNA catalog and believed every word. After graduation from USNA I married a Navy man, and after nine years of active duty I resigned my commission to pursue my writing career and become the parent-at-home as my husband deployed regularly with aircraft carriers and P-3C squadrons. Thus I became and remain a Navy Wife. For a few more weeks, anyhow. DH (dear hubby) is preparing to retire after 27 years of service to our great nation. It was my service, too, as a spouse. Our kids count in here, too, as they've served in 3 foreign countries and six different states. 

It's sad to leave the active-duty part of serving the U.S. but it's a joy to settle down and grow roots. I hope and pray that the new way I've found to serve--by highlighting the life and loves of military families in my fiction--will help each reader understand the great sacrifices made by so few for so many of us. This is what drove me to propose the Whidbey Island Series to my publisher, Harlequin, specifically, Harlequin Superromance. The first of four books in the series, NAVY RULES, comes out next month (June 5, 2012). I owe each and every soldier, sailor, airman, marine, and countless civilian dependants like me that I've ever met a debt of gratitude for their support over the years. It's been an honor to serve and may the journey of service no matter in what form continue for all of us.
