Author in the Spotlight

I'm pleased to report that the Association of Independent Authors has chosen to feature me as their "Author in the Spotlight" for the month of May. There may not be anything in the article that members here do not already know, but it does give a small shout-out to MWSA, which pleases me.

When I Grow Up

Kids spend a lot of time talking about what they want to be when they grow up. Or, at least they used to. I suppose it’s possible that this particular topic of conversation has fallen out of vogue sometime in the past decade or two. So perhaps I should say that, when I was a fledgling human—back in the age before dinosaurs—this subject came up pretty often. I talked about it with other kids, and with grownups. For some reason, adults loved to ask the question… What do you want to be when you grow up?

As a combat flyer, I had several tours of duty in combat zones. I wrote a book about my experiences in the Gulf War. "Stormjammers: The Extraordinary Story of EW in the Gulf War" was talked about on NPR and featured in the Journal of Electronic Defense.

Comes A Soldier's Whisper

I am very excited to be a new member of MWSA and to share Comes A Soldier's Whisper, a collection of wartime letters with reflection and hope for the future.

Although these letters were written some seventy years ago between 1943-1945, they resonate the same sentiments of our soldiers today. A soldier's thoughts turn to family, the future and his past and is shown throughout my father's (David Clinton Tharp) personal letters sent home. War changes a soldier. It changes their family too...

Official Photo 25th Annual Literary Feast

In the latest Dispatches I wrote about the great experience I had at Fort Lauderdale as one of the authors participating in the Broward County Public Library Foundation's Literary Feast. The organization is wonderful and was informed that they raised $170,000 for the county's public library system, the seventh largest in the nation.
