Note from the President

Hello! A big workload awaited me upon my return from Dayton, but I I wanted to write this short note to let everyone know that I'm honored to be the new president of the Military Writers Society of America, succeeding Joyce Faulkner. Joyce has done a tremendous job and I'll be working hard to continue her legacy.

The 2012 MWSA conference in Dayton was a tremendous success. We've had a glitch in posting the list of book award winners, and for that I apologize. The list should be up later today.

Announcing new candidates for MWSA officers!

As you know, my term as President of MWSA will be up on September 29, 2012 and I will be stepping down. Although we've grown a lot during my tenure, it's time for new ideas and new leadership. As such, I'm pleased to share with you the names of four members who have agreed to take on the leadership of our organization for the next three years. I want to thank each of them and pledge my support as they build on what we've started and create new ways to achieve our goals.

The Webmaster's Corner: New Site Design

Access for Most Devices!

We are now testing the MWSA website to improve support for smartphones and tablets. We know many members have portable devices, so we are trying to support everyone as best we can. There are some minor glitches still, but the site does work on iPhones and iPads. Please let us know if you experience any serious problems. There will always be little minor annoyances with smaller screens, though.

The Webmaster's Corner - Major Updates Coming

Redesign Starting

This weekend, we will begin a redesign of the MWSA website. The goal is to reduce the "menu overload" some members have noticed, especially on smaller screens and tablets. No functionality is going to be removed — our goal is to make the site easier to use and faster to navigate. We'd like to complete the redesign by September, so we can explore the new site during the annual MWSA conference.
