MWSA Review

Call Sign: Wrecking Crew (StormWarning ) is an example of an ideological action thriller which has become more popular in the last few years. A tough team of independent-thinking operatives are called in to defend the good old US of A which has been weakened by the political decisions of another party. There is the obligatory listing of equipment -- weapons, vehicles, and other gear. The book feels like a combination "Road Warrior" and "Robin Hood" with a little "Lord of the Rings" thrown in for seasoning. The characters are arch-types -- especially the bad guys and the political buffoons who caused the current problems. There is distance -- not only between the characters and the reader, but also between each other. Even the scenes of intimacy between them are oddly-detached. However, there is lots of action, weapons, and hormones.

Part comic-book and part rant, this is a book that dedicated advotees of this narrow genre will enjoy.
