NAVY RULES--in more ways than one!

I am a product of the U.S. Navy. It all started in my sophomore year of high school when a classmate did a presentation on the service academies. It didn't hurt that I was dating a future West Point cadet, either. After visiting USMA I realized I wanted to served my country but not in the Army. I ordered and read the USNA catalog and believed every word.

Mystery/Thriller/Suspense - Definition and Evaluation Criteria

Mystery/Thriller/Suspense genre may be broken up into two categories depending on the number and type of books submitted in a given year. They share many of the same elements and the aim is similar -- to entertain and excite the reader. The author does this by heightened expectation, surprise, uncertainy, unknown villains, and terror. He/she uses literary techniques like cliff-hangers, plot-twists, and clues that lead the reader to wrong conclusions. 

Literary Fiction - Definition and Evaluation Criteria

Literary Fiction is defined by MWSA to be complex, multilayered novels that wrestle with universal dilemmas. Some books that are identified in other genres like historical or mystery/thriller can conceivably be considered literary as well dependingon the interests and skill of the author. Member Jack Woodville London's French Letters triology falls into this category in that while his books are nominally Historical Fiction, they also have all the characteristics that would support them as literary novels as well.
